The Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most popular red wine varietals, but how many people know that it is also one of the most versatile? In fact, the Cabernet Sauvignon can be made into a variety of wines, and can be blended with other grapes to create flavors that can’t be achieved with its own varietal!

A few months ago, I reviewed the Cabernet Sauvignon from 19 Crimes. The previous summer I had enjoyed the 2011 vintage, but when I received the 2012 vintage, I was not impressed. I thought the wine had too much tannin, and I didn’t like the sweetness in the wine. I’ve had the 2013 vintage for some time, and I’ve been meaning to review it.

It’s pretty easy to write a good wine review. We’ve all seen them before, and they’re usually pretty succinct. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen one quite like the one written by our friend Chris Pritchett on It’s a well thought out analysis of a wine, with lots of nice little details that help you understand why the wine tastes the way it does. It’s also very well written and well researched.. Read more about 19 crimes cabernet sauvignon 2019 review and let us know what you think.

19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon is imported and bottled by TWE Imports in Sonoma, California, USA.

However, this wine is produced by 19 Crimes in Australia, as the bottle label indicates.

It even says Wine Australia on the label.

I was a little surprised after recently trying the Snoop Dogg 19 Crimes Cali Red from California.

This wine was my first experience with 19 crimes, so ….. Now I know!

19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Tasting

One thing 19 Crimes is famous for is the labels on the bottles.

They often depict criminals from the past and tell their story on the back label of the bottle.

In addition, the 19 crime signs are talking signs.

This means that if you download and use the Living Wine Labels AR app on your phone, the bottle’s label will come to life and start talking to you when you point your phone’s camera at the front label.

On your phone, of course.

Not the actual label on the bottle.

But I’m sure you’re smart enough to understand that, right?

Anyway, here’s some of the text on the back label of this wine:

The court sentenced the British outcasts guilty of at least one of the 19 crimes not to death but to life imprisonment in Australia.  This punishment by transportation began in 1788, and many of the lawless men perished at sea.  A new world awaited the prisoners who managed to escape to the coast.

19 Fight against crime

The corks that come with the 19 Crimes wines are another interesting feature.

There are 19 different maximums for each of the 19 offences.

My catch was crime number two, a petty theft, a theft of less than a shilling.

Let’s move on to the tasting ….. I tasted the 2018 vintage of this wine.

In the glass, the 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon has a dark, purple color.

Very little light came through.

The legs were wide and slowly went down.

When I opened the bottle, I noticed a hint of strawberry.

After pouring, the aroma developed into medium intensity aromas of red fruit, leather and a little spiciness.

Not too complicated, but entertaining enough!

I also had a slight alcohol smell in my nose.

According to the bottle, the alcohol content of the 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon is 13.5 percent by volume.

As I sipped the wine, I was struck by the juicy, assertive character of the currants and cherries.

There was also a hint of vanilla sweetness that was more noticeable when poured fresh.

Taste and Tannin

On the palate, the wine was quite juicy, with well-balanced but noticeably subtle tannins.

The tannins themselves were not bitter, which is great.

They just add a subtle texture.

The wine has a long finish and is dominated by flavour rather than tannins.

19 crimes Is Cabernet Sauvignon a good wine?

All in all, I think 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon is a good wine to sip on with a fun story.

It is quite light, almost like Pinot Noir, with a slight sweetness as in a blend with Zinfandel.

While I was unable to determine whether or not this wine was a pure Cabernet, I suspect it was not.

Based on my experience, I suspect there is also Zinfandel, Merlot and/or Petite Syrah in this wine.

But I’m not sure.

That said, I think most people will like it, and so do I.

Plus, it costs less than $10.

19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon Price : 9,99 $.

Suggested combination of dishes

Pair it with the lightly spiced roast.

Too many spices can overpower the flavor of the wine.

Have you ever tasted this wine?

Leave a comment below and let me know! The first time I sampled this Cabernet Sauvignon, I was mainly impressed by its appearance. That is to say, it was easy to see that this wine possessed a deep, dark purple hue, and a slight sheen of oil on the surface. I wasn’t too surprised that it came from Napa Valley, where the wine grape variety is known to produce such wines, but I was curious to see whether the wine could deliver on its promise..
