Today, Acker announced that it will be releasing the first-ever Burgundy wine NVT from the Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, which is located within the Côtes de Nuits appellation. (The label is set to be released on June 5, 2019.) The wine is a small batch of 100 cases, and Acker expects it to be a big hit among wine collectors.

Acker Merrall & Condit will release its first ever Burgundy wine, along with the debut of the 2019 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair portfolio to the market at a public tasting to be held at the company’s World of Wines warehouse in Rockville, Maryland on Wednesday, April 10th, the night before the New York International Wine Competition. Unique 1/1 NFT accompanies the wines at the US auction on the 12th. May

NEW YORK, NY – 27. April 20, 2021 – Acker,, the world’s largest fine and rare wine auction house and America’s oldest winery, has announced the first lots of Burgundy with NFTs that will be offered at the upcoming Delaware Fine Wine Auction on April 12. The month of May will be presented.

Acker presents sixteen unique bottle lots of the unreleased 2019 vintage, produced by the renowned Count Louis-Michel Liger-Belair of Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair.  Each bottle comes with a unique NFT, in which the Count describes each specific vineyard and its expression in an exceptional 2019 vintage.  Payment for these lots is accepted in traditional US dollars or in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and others.

Lots are auctioned on Acker’s own platform and transferred to the buyer via OpenSea in Ethereum. These unique NFTs will never be made again, they will delight collectors of NFTs, Burgundy connoisseurs and history buffs. The files will be available starting Tuesday, May 4, and can be accessed on the Acker website.

Every NFT from Comte that describes these wines will never be repeated – it’s something like the first email, the first telegram, the first phone call, fixed in time, forever, says John Capon, president of Acker.  Imagine that today you possess a unique souvenir photo of Louis-Michel’s ancestors discussing the legendary wines of the 1919 vintage as they were being bottled.  At that time the family still owned La Tache!  The inimitable Count Louis-Michel Liger-Beler is listed as one of the world’s greatest wine producers.  We are honored to partner with him in this innovative venture, creating pieces of history for wine lovers and budding technology collectors.  It is sure to be an extraordinary sale and a revolutionary moment for the entire world of wine, technology and finance.

The legend of Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair began after the Napoleonic Wars, when General Louis Liger-Belair acquired the Château de Vosne in Burgundy and planted over 60 hectares of fabulous vineyards, including La Tache and La Grande Rue. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair became a major player in the wine industry. In the 19th century, inheritance taxes and other dangers deprived the Domaine of many of its possessions, which were gradually acquired during this century by the current owner, Louis-Michel Liger-Beler, 7. the Count Liger-Beler of Domaine.

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair’s portfolio ranges from the different varieties of Nuits St. Laurent to the most famous. Georges and Vosne Romanée to the Grand Cru of Clos Vougeot, Echezeaux and the flagship La Romanée.  During the past twenty years, the reputation of this famous house has grown considerably under the enlightened leadership of the Count.  Louis-Michel, who received his training from legendary winemaker Henri Gayer, is now considered one of the most elite producers in Burgundy.  Few domains have such a strong and loyal following as the Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair.

The auction season for Acker continues May 12 and 13 in Delaware and May 28 and 29. May in Hong Kong.  Acker is currently accepting wines for the Wine and Spirits online summer auction, with weekly online auctions ending each week. For more information, please contact [email protected].
