PURCHASE, NEW YORK (February 22, 2021) – Kobrand Corporation, a leading importer of wines and spirits with an exceptional portfolio of hand-picked brands from around the world, is pleased to announce the launch of the Rebellious brand and the addition of California to its timeless portfolio. Effective immediately, Kobrand is solely responsible for all Rebel sales and marketing activities in California and other selected markets.

The addition of Rebellious to Kobrand’s iconic portfolio in California represents an exciting opportunity to expand our offerings in the red blends category. The red blend category has been strong for the past decade, but in recent years, especially in California, we have seen a dramatic shift toward premiumization within the category, says Robert T. DeRoose, president and CEO of Kobrand Corporation.

Originally from the California regions of Sonoma and Mendocino, Rebellious is a tribute to the art of winemaking, carefully selecting each grape variety for a generous and balanced blend. This is a premium red wine blend, rooted in the rebellious spirit of nature, with a rich and unique flavor and a luxurious finish. The design of the bottle’s label is inspired by the roots of the vine. These roots grow under rich, often rocky soil and sink deep into the ground to reach the water they need.

Nature is unpredictable, ruthless and insensitive. Everything must fight to survive. But it was this challenge that inspired us to create our rebellious red wine blend. The rebellious roots dig deep in search of water, a struggle that produces better grapes. And instead of making a typical red blend from these grapes, Rebellious ventures into the unexpected and adds a touch of Sauvignon Blanc to round out the flavors for a wine unlike any other.

Rebellion releases its 2018 red wine blend (MSRP: $24.99). Grapes were selected from prestigious growing areas throughout California, including the Sonoma and Mendocino appellations on the North Coast. The red blend is composed of 44% Zinfandel, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre, 7% Petite Sirah, 3% Malbec and 1% Sauvignon Blanc; it is also fermented in individual batches. The wine is then blended and aged for 16 months in French and American oak.

The 2018 vintage saw a cool spring with much-needed rain, followed by a moderate summer that prepared the soil for a slow and steady harvest. The fruit germinated after Labor Day, and the long growing season allowed the vines to develop complex flavors, rich color and balanced acidity.

The reborn red blend has aromas of black cherry, strawberry jam, brown sugar, dark chocolate and cola with notes of cardamom, black pepper, sandalwood and licorice. The palate is lively and bright with fresh blueberries and spice that lingers into a rich, creamy mid-palate and finishes with a luxuriously long finish. This blend is packed with flavors that go well with grilled foods like ribs, grilled vegetables or a juicy cheddar burger. Spicy and fruity flavors complement braised short ribs and roasted turkey with sausage stuffing.
